End Run

BC Place w. a hole in it.

Our class ended today. I was sick on Wednesday, but feel (almost) fine today. It was a good class - especially the latter part as we looked at the missional/emergent church. Will post some of the stuff we discussed later on.

The roof of BC Place ripped apart today. I walked by it today on my way back from the Skytrain station and didn't notice anything. We live a block away from it, so I'm going to go tomorrow and take some pics of it.

We might be going to Edmonton at the end of the month. A vehicle we are interested in buying is there - we had planned on going earlier just for a holiday at the mall. We had wanted to stay in the Fantysyland Hotel which is right in the mall - but the prices are outrageous! Between $250 and 350 - this is January! This is Edmonton! Sheesh.

Felicia rented na movie tonight called "House of Sand". It is stunningly boring. I watched an hour of it - Felicia is still watching it.

Tomorrow - finish off message for Sunday. I have a sneaking feeling our numbers will be quite low this Sunday - we're meeting in our apt. for the first time.

Still need a place to meet! We are homeless!

Oldman here...Question.Is Christianity the only form of religion that will qualify a person for Heaven?
Santosh said…
Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. No religion gets you into heaven. Salvation is only through Christ.

Oldman here...So what happens to GOOD Jews and Muslims who lead a life of goodness and devotion? Would a TRULY JUST GOD not allow them in heaven? It would seem that your God is a bit of a racist would it not?
Well Oldman, I would disagree with your charge that God is racist.
God does not discriminate as to who can be saved in regards to race; anyone who accepts Jesus and tries to follow in his ways can get into Heaven. Whites, Blacks, Orientals, Indians, whoever. Anyone can accept Jesus.

As to your comment about what happens to Jews and Muslims and people of other faiths, well I think that Santosh is right to say that salvation can only come through Christ. Everyone sins, no matter how 'good' you are or appear to be, and as fallen beings our nature is inclined towards evil things. We cannot be saved by works, because our bad works will always outweigh our good works. So, the only way we can be saved is through grace and the forgiveness of God through Jesus.

(sorry to sort of but in here Santosh I hope you don't mind)

Have a pleasant day, Oldman!

I am glad you butted in.That is the whole point, to get some feedback and perhaps start a dialouge. I didn't mean racist in the stictest of terms. What I meant is that a person can be a good person regardless of whether or not they believe in Jesus and for god to discriminate on that basis would to ME be wrong and GOD can't be wrong can he. It is very cinical to belive that everyone's bad deeds outweigh their good ones.So as a hypothetical, if someone were to be a TOTALLY GOOD person but did not believe in Jesus they would be denied heaven?...Does God not allow for mistakes (AS in not believing in Jesus?)
Hmmmm Oldman, here are some thoughts:
When you say 'for god to discriminate on that basis would to ME be wrong and GOD can't be wrong can he.', you are I think assuming something incorrectly. Just because you think something is wrong does not make it wrong to God, also you thinking something is right does make it right to God. What we as humans think about the morality of our choices is probably irrelevant; it is what God says that matters. God is infinite and all-powerful, and has been around from before time. Therefore, he knows more than us and as our creator can tell us what is right and wrong. Can we understand his decisions? Rarely.
Secondly, yes I suppose it is cynical to think that everyone's bad deeds 'outweigh' the good ones, but, so what? Human 'nature' in itself is evil, because we are fallen. I do not think it is possible to have a totally good person, except of course Jesus :) So I still think that the only way that people (being inclined to evil) can get into Heaven and be with God, is through the grace of Jesus.
Thirdly, God allows for mistakes. I suppose you can become a Christian right up until you die, no matter what sins you have committed, and get into heaven if you really mean it. If you have not repented by the time you die, well, then you will not be saved. But you cannot say that God did not give you enough time, or that you did not realize Christ until too late, or things like that. It is your choice to accept Christ and be saved or not.
But Santosh should really be responding to you since it is his blog and he has a degree in these things :) and I am uneducated in Christian theology stuff.

Have a pleasant day, Oldman!

Gaspard de coligny ii..i haven't got time right now to respond to your comments although i DO WANT TO..so pardon me for a not so immediate reply..Also let's post our comments on whatever the latest entry is so that we do not have to keep going back in the blog to find our discussion. I am quite glad you got involved and although Santosh may have a greater knowledge in these areas it is also good for us not so well educated people to inquire into these areas. How else can we learn....Oldman
