Countdown

The view from my office that I have enjoyed for the past 6 years.
Bye-bye. Sniff.

Thanks for all the condolences on the death of my last macbook.

2 weeks and we leave beloved city life for the serenity of the 'burbs. I am trying to savor every last minute of urban life. For those of you who don't know, our apt. is on the 26th floor w. a SW view. We overlook Yaletown and have views of the water and UBC. Through our bedroom we have great city views and the North Shore Mountains as well. The view is definitely one thing we will miss.

At night time, the city is all alit w. lights in the apartments - it is really quite amazing. We also have floor to ceiling windows which just magnify the stellar views.

The house we are moving to is basically a dream house - we are renting it for 9 months, while the owners go to Cambridge for schooling. The house is brand new, 4000 sq. feet w. 2 decks and a view of Mt. Baker. The house is also basically at the top of Heritage Mountain.

This is a house we will never be able to afford to own, but for 9 mths. we will get to enjoy it. It'll be hard to leave and down-size to a smaller town-house!

I am pretty much settled that we will be unable to purchase a house in Heritage Mountain. The prices start at $700 000 and then rise steeply. We will be able to buy a town-house. Most of the town-houses are around 2000 sq. feet which will be quite spacious and more then enough room for us tiny Ninans.

So, I have been feeling rather melancholic lately - saying good-bye to downtown Vancouver, which has been our home for the past 7 years. But at the same time, everytime I am in Port Moody, I know that is where we are supossed to be.

For example. on Friday after the day-camp, Adam and I went to Rocky Point, which is this amazing park right on the water. They have a great fish and chip place there called Pajo's. We just pigged out! Tons of delicious halibut and freshly squeezed lemonade. As we walked through the park, I just felt - this is right, this is where we're supossed to be. And every Sunday at church, simply reinforces that feeling.

What about Phelps at the olympics? Unreal! I think the guy is part fish or something.

Watch for bears! I hear the 'burbs' in your part of the world like visiting. You and Felicia will have to carry in your new setting the faith of St. Francis of Assissi when he met the the wolf .
